Science School Volunteer
Hello Sparklers! Welcome to the Open Minds School! The Open Minds Science School program is a five-day experience made up of hands-on activities that require facilitation and adult support. This is a program here at TELUS Spark. As a volunteer in this role, you will be assisting with classroom management and classroom preparations and will be able to gain experience working with students from a range of grades (grade 1 - 6). You will become familiar with different types of classroom technology and hands-on science activities! In this role, you'll gain experience and knowledge about TELUS Spark science center, including different exhibits and shows. In addition to this, volunteers will also assist in:
- Help prepare classroom materials
- Support students to stay focused, manage time, and ensure that everyone participates. You may also guide Students in following safety protocols during hands-on activities.
- Support student exploration of galleries and traveling exhibits
- Model and encourage a growth mindset
- Foster a passion for science by sparking curiosity, asking thought-provoking questions, and engaging students in exploring science concepts in creative ways.
